Ortet is a founding-stage company in New York City, and we work in person. You will join as one of the first members of a small, high-impact team and build Ortet together with us. ABOUT THE TEAM Frontier Research is the team behind the Ortet Health Model. We work on the core scientific problem of the company: how to create continuously improving intelligence for every patient. The agenda spans data, training, and evaluation in realistic settings, intersecting with causality, multimodality, environments, and agents. Your research will ship: models here are built to enter a closed learning loop with practice, and results are measured in care. We are hiring across pretraining, post-training, evaluation, agents, multimodality, and data. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Define the research agenda with the founding team, across foundation models, causality, multimodality, agents - Research and build the Ortet Health Model, from data and training through evaluation in real-world settings - Pursue the problems you judge most important, with the compute and freedom to go deep, from design to execution - Set the scientific standards and research culture of Ortet WHAT WE LOOK FOR Required: - Hands-on experience training and evaluating foundation models, and making judgment calls in open-ended problems - Readiness to go deep on clinical, care, and biology practice, and to focus on any research the mission needs - The drive to own problems end to end, from question to deployed result, with all the unglamorous work in between - A track record of strong machine learning research, shown through publications, models, or systems Nice to have: - Depth in causal inference, multimodal learning, reinforcement learning, interpretability, or agents - Experience with clinical, biological, or other health data - Experience carrying research into production - Range to explore with creativity and to exploit with rigor WHAT WE OFFER Competitive salary and meaningful equity.
