Controller

At Coram AI, we’re reimagining video security for the modern world. Our cloud-native platform uses computer vision and AI to help businesses stay safe, make smarter decisions, and move faster; from real-time alerts to seamless clip sharing and multi-site visibility. You’ll be joining an ambitious, fast-moving team that values clarity, craftsmanship, and impact. Every person here has a voice, ships meaningful work, and helps shape how AI can make the world safer and more connected. The role: The Controller owns the entire accounting function and is the second finance leader, working directly alongside the Head of Finance. To start, this is a player-coach seat. It is you and one accountant, so you run and review the close yourself and own the technical work directly, then hire and build the team over the next 12 to 18 months. You need to be as comfortable in the details as you are leading. Just as important, you will help build an AI-first accounting function. We already run much of the transactional layer on automation, and we want a Controller who treats that as core to the job, not a side project. This is a rare seat for a strong technical accountant who wants to build the accounting org of the future on a small, senior, high-leverage team, with room to grow in scope as we scale through a Series C to $50M+ ARR. Responsibilities: - Own the books across all entities (US, UK, India), month-end close and consolidations, technical accounting (606, 842, 718), revenue, COGS and inventory, and internal controls - Run and complete Coram's external audit - Manage the tax, statutory, and specialist work - Manage and grow the accounting team Skills and qualifications: - 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, or an Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller ready to step up into a full controllership - Experience independently owned a month-end close, handling real revenue recognition (ASC 606). This seat cannot be someone's first time doing any of the three - Hardware experience required; you have done the accounting for a company that ships physical product, so inventory, COGS, and hardware revenue and bundling are familiar ground, not a learning curve - A strong technical accountant: hands-on with US GAAP, revenue recognition (ASC 606) and consolidations, ideally also leases (842), stock-based comp (718), and capitalized software - CPA preferred - Audit experience, internal or external - Experience owning or heavily contributing to a multi-entity month-end close and consolidations - Experience selecting and implementing an ERP is a plus. We will graduate off QuickBooks as we scale - Experience building and managing a team - AI-forward and genuinely AI-pilled: already using automation and AI in accounting, with a point of view on how a modern accounting org should be built - Multi-entity or international experience (UK/India), and a high-growth startup background - Resilient in challenging and fast-paced environments - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to influence at all levels - Ability to work in an onsite environment What we offer: - 100% Employer-paid medical, dental, vision, and base life insurance - Flexible paid time off and 10 paid holidays - 401(k) with both Traditional and Roth options - Early-stage equity in a rapidly growing company - Referral bonuses - Daily team dinners and regular team off-sites - The latest Apple products and unlimited tech stack (Claude Cowork, Perplexity Computer, Nooks, Clay, Instantly, etc. We're on a mission to transform a $50B+ legacy industry by bringing the power of cutting-edge multimodal LLMs and computer vision to real-world security and operations.
