Recruiter - HQ

RECRUITER MISSION LENS’s mission is to end traffic accidents. LENS prevents accidents and saves lives by detecting hazards to prevent accidents before they happen. PLATFORM & PRODUCT LENS Detect scans CCTV feeds on highways to identify hazards, in real-time, before they become accidents. Public Safety agencies, alongside Departments of Transportation, receive alerts on the LENS Detect dashboard about Disabled Vehicles, Stalled Big Rigs, and Pedestrians on Freeway. A dispatcher reviews and validates the detection, and then dispatches an officer to the scene to assist the person in need — resulting in either preventing an accident or saving a life. CBS LA recently did a three minute TV feature that succinctly captures what LENS is doing with Public Safety Agencies in one of the largest traffic capitals in the world: CHP LA Communications Center using AI to prevent accidents before they happen http://youtube.com/watch?v=KrY2NVJ2eno ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES As a Recruiter at LENS, you seek transformational change. You do not accept the status quo that accidents are an accepted inevitability, or that they just happen. Instead, you believe when the root cause of an accident can be known in advance, the accident can and should be prevented. You work with fellow Preventers that share this core belief, using LENS to prevent accidents and save lives. Your responsibilities are: - Build the team to end traffic accidents. Source candidates who are passionate about our Mission, have a demonstrated interest and desire to advance it, who align with our Principles, and who contribute positively to the growth and evolution of our Culture. - Own and manage the candidate journey. Partner with teams to develop job descriptions, build the interview process and panels, coordinate schedules and logistics, maintain accurate records and systems, and anything else that makes for an efficient and high-leverage candidate process. - Advance recruiting strategy and operational success. Help build a scalable recruiting function necessary for LENS to achieve its mission - a function that not only hires the right people at the right time, but continually raises the bar for talent quality across the company and helps the team to meet that bar. MINDSET, PRINCIPLES, AND SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Your mindset is grounded in: - Every hire raises the ceiling. You believe a company's long-term potential is bounded by the caliber and conviction of the people who join - so every hire is a high-leverage decision, not a transaction to close. You break norms and playbooks, finding creative solutions to compile the team necessary to achieve our mission. - Recruiting is a system, not a series of searches. You build the function once so it compounds - repeatable processes, clear evaluation frameworks, and a pipeline that strengthens with every cycle, rather than starting from zero each time. - Adaptability drives evolution. With no playbook handed to you, you create one - and you treat that playbook as a living thing, refined constantly as you learn what works. Principles you share with us are: - Begin with the end in mind. Before sourcing a single candidate, you partner with hiring managers to define the role, the ideal profile, and what success looks like — then work backwards to the sourcing strategy and interview process that gets there. - Invest the most time where it makes the most progress. You evaluate every recruiting activity by its impact on the highest-priority roles, rather than spreading effort evenly across every open req. - Investing in Team is always one of the most impactful ways to advance the mission. You are the tip of the spear for one of the most high-leverage, trajectory-moving outcomes for LENS, and you are extremely motivated by the outsized impact your work will have. The Skills & Experience you have are: - 10+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, including significant contributions within mission-driven organizations. - Demonstrated ability to attract and hire top talent while supporting rapid company growth and organizational scaling. - Experience establishing and optimizing recruiting operations, processes, and systems in startup settings. - Success identifying, engaging, and hiring high-caliber technical talent, including software engineers, in highly competitive labor markets. - Trusted advisor to hiring managers and senior leaders, providing strategic guidance throughout the hiring process. - Outstanding communication, organization, and project management skills. - Ability to balance long-term talent strategy with hands-on execution. - Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting quickly in a fast-moving startup environment. - Expertise with applicant tracking systems and recruiting tools, particularly Ashby and Rippling. - Familiarity with structured interviewing frameworks and interviewer enablement best practices. The time to accept traffic accidents is ending, and the time to prevent them is beginning. This belief is becoming more of an inevitable reality every day. The number of people public agencies and departments are helping with LENS keeps growing faster and faster. If you are energized by knowing that you are creating the team that will end traffic accidents, this role is for you.
