Business Operations Lead

BUSINESS OPERATIONS LEAD MISSION LENS’s mission is to end traffic accidents. LENS prevents accidents and saves lives by detecting hazards to prevent accidents before they happen. PLATFORM & PRODUCT LENS Detect scans CCTV feeds on highways to identify hazards, in real-time, before they become accidents. Public Safety agencies, alongside Departments of Transportation, receive alerts on the LENS Detect dashboard about Disabled Vehicles, Stalled Big Rigs, and Pedestrians on Freeway. A dispatcher reviews and validates the detection, and then dispatches an officer to the scene to assist the person in need — resulting in either preventing an accident or saving a life. CBS LA recently did a three minute TV feature that succinctly captures what LENS is doing with Public Safety Agencies in one of the largest traffic capitals in the world: CHP LA Communications Center using AI to prevent accidents before they happen http://youtube.com/watch?v=KrY2NVJ2eno ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES As the Business Operations Lead, you seek transformational change. You do not accept the status quo that accidents are an accepted inevitability, or that they just happen. Instead, you believe when the root cause of an accident can be known in advance, the accident can and should be prevented. You work with fellow Preventers that share this core belief, using LENS to prevent accidents and save lives. Your responsibilities are: - Design, build, and scale the operational foundation across every function of LENS. - Establishing operational excellence as a cultural standard - developing the systems, processes, and rhythms that enable a lean team to execute with compounding impact as the company grows. - Driving cross-functional execution on strategic priorities, ensuring alignment, clear ownership, and on-time delivery across all teams. - Leading annual and quarterly operational planning, including resource allocation and goal-setting - and running the operating cadences that keep the leadership team focused and aligned. - Identifying operational bottlenecks and building durable solutions - not workarounds - so every system gets stronger over time. - Measuring daily, monthly, and annual impact through pre-accident detections, accidents prevented, and lives saved. MINDSET, PRINCIPLES, AND SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Your mindset is grounded in: - The company is a system. You see every function, process, and team as interconnected - and you are never satisfied with a system that has unnecessary drag, unclear ownership, or untested assumptions. - You elevate the teams around you. You don't just build better systems - you build better operators. The people and teams you work with come away with a higher standard for how they plan, execute, and communicate. - Excellence is a habit, not an event. You don't treat operational quality as something to achieve once and maintain - you treat it as something to actively raise, continuously, across every function you touch. Principles you share with us are: - We try to enable each other to be at our highest creative level, and to elevate the frequency of every collaboration. You look not at just what allows you to make the greatest impact on our mission, but how you can elevate teams and teammates to their highest impact. The whole company must be operating at the highest level to achieve our mission. - We spend the most time where it makes the most progress. We evaluate every potential action and priority by the 80/20 rule, asking if it will make an 80 or 20% impact on the objective. - We begin with the end in mind. We identify the operational future LENS needs to reach, and work backwards to identify the sequence of systems, hires, and frameworks required to get there — in an unusual level of detail, while still moving swiftly. The Skills & Experience you have are: - 8+ years building foundational operational systems and process infrastructure at high-growth technology companies, from early stage through scale. - Complete cross-functional capability to design and run the operating rhythms, planning processes, and execution frameworks that keep the company aligned and moving. - Strong systems thinker - you see the company as an interconnected set of processes and know how to improve them. - Experience managing cross-functional programs with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities. - Delivering operational reliability that meets the demands of government agency customers in Public Safety and Transportation — where process failures have real consequences and trust is earned through consistent execution. - Comfort operating in ambiguity - you define the playbook when one doesn't exist. The time to accept traffic accidents is ending, and the time to prevent them has begun. This belief is becoming more of an inevitable reality every day. The number of public agencies LENS is serving keeps growing faster and faster. If you want to build the operational foundation that takes a mission-driven company from early traction to scale, and measure your impact in accidents prevented and lives saved, this role is for you.
