Construction Manager, Data Centre Delivery

About Nscale Nscale is a vertically integrated AI cloud: we secure the power and land, design and build the data centers, run the GPU fleet, and provide the software that customers train and serve models on. Headquartered in London, we operate in 14 regions and serve hyperscalers, frontier AI labs and enterprises. We sell through two lines. Nscale Infrastructure delivers large-scale dedicated AI compute to the world's biggest technology companies. Nscale Cloud gives customers the full AI lifecycle, from training to inference, under one contract. Our pipeline includes the Monarch Compute Campus in West Virginia, and the planned acquisition of Anyscale, the team behind Ray, adds workload orchestration to the platform. Our customers choose us for delivery certainty. This role exists to protect that promise. The role As Construction Manager, you lead the on-site build of Nscale's AI data centers, from mobilization through construction, commissioning and handover to operations. You are Nscale's presence on site, accountable for safety, quality, schedule and cost. Our campuses are high-density, liquid-cooled facilities built to house tens of thousands of GPUs, often on accelerated programs in remote, power-rich locations. You direct general contractors, MEP trade partners and equipment vendors so that each data hall is ready, energized and commissioned on the date our customers have contracted. What you'll do Lead the build on site • Direct day-to-day construction across civils, structure, envelope and MEP packages through to practical completion. • Manage general contractors and trade partners to the agreed program, scope and specification. • Coordinate the installation of power and cooling infrastructure: substations, switchgear, UPS, generators, chillers and liquid-cooling systems. • Run site logistics, sequencing and interface management so data halls are ready for GPU, network and rack installation. Own safety and quality • Set and enforce the site health and safety standard, with zero harm as the target; lead incident investigations. • Run inspection and test plans, QA/QC audits and snagging, and close out defects before handover. • Ensure compliance with local codes, permits, CDM or OSHA requirements, and Nscale's design standards. Control schedule and cost • Track progress against the integrated program and flag critical-path risks weeks ahead. • Review contractor valuations, change requests and variations with Commercial and Cost Management. • Maintain a live risk and issue register with owners and dates, and report weekly to the Project Director. Commission and hand over • Work with the commissioning agent through Level 1 to Level 5 integrated systems testing. • Hand over complete documentation, as-builts and O&M manuals to Data Centre Operations. • Capture lessons learned and feed them into Nscale's standard design and delivery playbook. What you'll bring • 5+ years in construction management, with at least 3 years leading mission-critical builds such as data centers, semiconductor fabs or large industrial facilities. • Demonstrated experience directly managing General Construction Managers, program controls (scheduling and cost) functions, EHS leadership, and multi-site subcontractor teams • Strong command of program-level scheduling (CPM), budget and cost control, and contract administration • Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Suite • Ability to read and interpret full construction document sets across civil, structural, architectural, and MEP disciplines • OSHA 30 certification required • Valid driver's license; ability to travel between multiple project sites as required Preferred • Experience overseeing hyperscale, colocation, or Tier III/IV data center construction programs • Familiarity with DCIM systems, raised floor environments, or critical power/cooling infrastructure at a portfolio level • Experience with program-level reporting and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) • PMP, CCM, or equivalent credential • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field; advanced degree a plus Character & Conduct What We Value Most: Character & Conduct • Technical skills can be taught. Character cannot. At Nscale, we're looking for people who show up with integrity, treat others with respect, and take genuine ownership of their work. As a senior leader on the program, this individual also sets the tone for every direct report and site team they oversee. The following traits matter as much to us as any credential or years of experience: • Integrity — does the right thing even when no one is watching; never misrepresents status, costs, or progress to protect themselves or their team • Ownership mentality — treats the program as their own and holds themselves and their direct reports accountable without being told • Respectful under pressure — stays composed and professional with contractors, trades, direct reports, and internal Nscale teams regardless of the circumstances • Transparent communicator — surfaces problems early and honestly, never buries bad news, and expects the same from the teams they lead • Team-first attitude — ego stays at the gate; the program and the people on it come first • Reliable and consistent — shows up prepared, follows through on commitments, and does what they say they will do • We actively seek references that speak to a candidate's character, not just their technical output. Tools & Software • Procore — program-wide project management, RFIs, submittals, daily reporting, and document control • Bluebeam Revu — drawing markup, QA/QC overlays • Microsoft Suite — Word, Excel, Outlook (required); MS Project or Primavera P6 (preferred) • Power BI or equivalent — program-level reporting and dashboarding (preferred) Work Environment & Schedule • Full-time role with regular travel across multiple project sites; on-site presence required as needed, particularly during critical milestones • Schedule flexibility required to support program needs across sites, teams, and time zones • Active construction environment when on-site — PPE required at all times • This is a full-time Nscale position. As Nscale's data center program pipeline grows, there will be opportunities to take on additional sites or programs.
