Founding Business Development Representative · France

ABOUT US Every 10 minutes, 18 million conversations happen between businesses and consumers around the world. For decades, the consumer side of those conversations sucked: long queues, robotic menus, repeated explanations, and advice that is often unhelpful. Most people today still cannot simply say what their problem is in natural language when communicating with businesses. AI changes that. For the first time, companies can have natural conversations with customers at massive scale. Every B2C company - from energy providers to telcos to insurers - will use AI agents to talk to their customers. The number of conversations businesses will handle is going to explode in the coming years. At telli, we are solving the challenges that come with that shift. Today, leading B2C companies like Sky are already using telli to deploy thousands of voice agents to provide their customers with a new experience. But building a first voice agent is easy, getting it to drive real outcomes for customers and businesses is the hard part. telli helps companies build, deploy, and improve consumer-facing AI voice agents at scale. This will become one of the most important software categories of the next decade, and we intend to win it. We are a small, AI-pilled team that likes to solve hard problems. Be it engineering, product, or GTM - we build, experiment, and move fast, while heavily leveraging the capabilities of AI models. All of us like to challenge ourselves and take real ownership over what we do, all while still staying humble and keeping a low-ego culture. Check out our principles https://principles.telli.com/ to see how we work. YOUR MISSION telli is arriving in France. We are building a small, mighty team in Paris to make every customer interaction worth having. The product is real; the French playbook is still being written. We are outsiders here, and we will earn our place through better conversations, sharper execution, and customers who see the difference. We are outbound first. As our founding BDR in France, you will start conversations rather than wait for them. You will find the right companies, reach the people who own customer operations, and create qualified opportunities for the team. You will also help decide which messages, channels, and routines deserve to become our French sales playbook. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Build targeted account lists and find the people with a real customer interaction problem to solve. - Prospect every day through calls, email, LinkedIn, and thoughtful experiments. The phone is a core part of this role. - Run sharp first conversations: understand the workflow, volume, owner, urgency, and reason to act; then hand over opportunities with context the AE can use. - Test messages and sequences, measure what turns into useful conversations and qualified pipeline, and improve quickly. - Bring what prospects say back to the France team, product, and marketing, and use those insights to improve targeting and messaging. WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT - You do not need sales experience. Your background could be the military, firefighting, competitive sport, or something else entirely. What matters is your discipline, coachability, rigor, and ability to keep going through rejection. - You speak clearly, listen closely, are curious about how businesses work, and are willing to learn a technical product. You are comfortable picking up the phone. - You care about the quality of the opportunity, not just the number of meetings on a calendar. - You take feedback directly, own your results, and keep moving when the answer is no. - You bring a bias for action, aim for excellence, take ownership, and work with low ego. Read the telli principles https://www.telli.com/principles - You speak and write excellent French, work comfortably in English, are based in Paris, and can spend two weeks in Berlin for onboarding. YOU MAY NOT BE A GOOD FIT IF - You don't believe voice is the future of how people and businesses talk to each other. - You need inbound leads, a finished script, or detailed direction before you can start. - You avoid the phone or repeated outreach. - You resist coaching or let a string of no's stop you from trying a better approach. - You value meeting counts over understanding whether a prospect has a real problem and reason to act. THE REALITY OF THE ROLE You will be one of the first people building telli's presence in France. There is no mature local demand engine or perfect script to inherit. Outbound is the core of this role, and some ideas will fail. You will make a lot of calls, learn fast, and help turn an early market into a repeatable business. If that sounds like the best challenge of your career, we want to meet you. THE HIRING PROCESS The hiring process itself is a case study in how you open doors. Show us how you prepare, earn a first conversation, ask and listen, follow up, and respond to feedback. We will evaluate how you create momentum and manage the process end to end, with the discipline and judgment you would bring to building pipeline in France. COMPENSATION €60,000–€80,000 gross annual on-target earnings (OTE), with a 50% base salary and 50% variable compensation at target, plus equity. We will discuss the equity terms during the hiring process.
