Join the Future of Robotic Biomanufacturing!   Multiply Labs is a robotics company on a mission to solve a significant bottleneck in modern medicine: the manufacturing of life-saving advanced biologics - including cell therapies, gene therapies, mRNA therapies, and more.   Currently, advanced biological therapies are produced through manual, labor-intensive processes. This keeps costs astronomical—often exceeding $0.5M-$2M per patient—and limits access to only a fraction of those in need.    As labor scarcity for scientists compound against increased product complexity and sky-high costs of failure, the emergence of robotics and AI makes the automated manufacturing of biologics feasible, reliable, and economically scalable.    We envision that the biomanufacturing factory of the future is fully robotic - closed, automated, and scalable, making therapeutics for some of the most important indications for patients today widely accessible.     Why This Matters   We don’t just build robots; we build the infrastructure for the next generation of biologics manufacturing. Our technology allows biopharma companies to scale production without redesigning their science, drastically lowering regulatory hurdles and bringing costs down to a level where these treatments can actually reach patients.   The Stack & The Scale   The Mission: Build the world’s best robots to make life-saving therapies accessible to all. The Technology: Advanced robotic orchestration, high-precision automation, cloud-integrated hardware-software systems, dextrous manipulation, and imitation learning. The Location: Headquartered in San Francisco, CA. The Backing: Supported by premier investors, including Casdin Capital, Lux Capital, and Y Combinator.   About the Role   We are looking for Software Engineering Interns to join a highly collaborative team to deliver production ready software that will shape the future of personalized medicine and cell therapy manufacturing systems. This role is for you if you are a strong problem solver, motivated and hard-working student, and excited to experience what it’s like being an engineer at an early-stage startup. Responsibilities include: • Design, build, deploy, troubleshoot and maintain high-quality software that manages the state and coordination of a multi-robot cluster. • Build fast, discrete-event simulation tests to validate scheduling logic and throughput assumptions before code hits physical hardware. • Collaborate with team members in implementing and testing scheduling logic for multi-agent workflows. • Help develop and maintain tools to intelligently manage shared resources across parallel manufacturing batches. • Work on developing and monitoring the connectivity tooling between on-premise robots and AWS. • Contribute to the automated test suite, focusing on improving test coverage for non-deterministic robotic behaviors and streamlining the integration process. • Participate in code reviews, document system architectures, and work closely with senior mentors to learn and apply industry-standard clean architecture and testing patterns. Qualifications • Currently working towards a Bachelor, Masters, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or equivalent. • Self-starter comfortable working in a fast paced, technically challenging startup environment. • Strong background in: linear algebra, Python, data science, and data structures / algorithms. • Strong communication skills that clearly express ideas and design details in meetings, team presentations, white board brainstorming sessions and in various technical documentation. • Prioritize organization and detail orientation, with ability to handle multiple project and task assignments simultaneously. • Passionate, curious, and eager to learn. Nice to Haves • Experience with robotic systems. • Experience with cloud technologies, specifically AWS. • Industry experience with Python. Total Rewards & Life at Multiply Labs • Competitive Compensation: $5,000-$7,000/month. • Real Ownership: Own meaningful design projects on robots that go into production, not side tasks. • Mentorship: Work side by side with experienced mechanical, robotics, and software engineers. • Office Perks: An energetic SF office culture featuring catered team lunches, stocked kitchen, and frequent team events. • Great people, meaningful work, and a team that genuinely believes in what we’re building. • No Set Hours: Set your own schedule in alignment with your manager and team. We hold a high bar, measuring success by impact and outcomes—not hours logged. Come build the world’s best robots—and help make life-saving therapies accessible to all. We actively seek candidates with diverse perspectives and lived experiences. We’re committed to building a team where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to do their best work. Multiply Labs encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply—even if you don’t meet every qualification. If you’re excited about our mission and think you can contribute, we’d love to hear from you. Our headquarters is located in San Francisco’s vibrant Dogpatch neighborhood.
