Platform Engineer

ABOUT POETIC Poetic is creating the next layer of human-computer interaction - combining the intelligence of AI with the reliability of software. We automate the most complex manual processes for the world's largest enterprises using a new English programming language that blends structured control flow with natural language instructions. Processes that once took hours can now be completed in a fraction of the time at superhuman quality. Poetic is deployed globally, powering critical workflows for Fortune 500 companies with 98%+ quality across over half a million production runs. ABOUT THE ROLE We’re hiring for the next person on our core product engineering team. Someone who is inspired by the future and wants to build what the next layer of human-computer interaction could look like for how we all use computers. It’s a small, focused team of amazing engineers who like owning entire parts of the product end-to-end and want to work on complex technical challenges with real-impact. Poetic is a fully vertically integrated programming stack and environment and we’ve had to build the IDE, the compiler, the runtime, and the infra underneath to make it work. And separately, have also built multiple other layers that allow for Poetic to work effectively to achieve the accuracy and reliability needed to automate the most critical processes on computers. Some questions we think about: - What does it mean for software to be living and fluid? - What is the syntax of a programming language optimized for LLMs to read and write? - Can an entire programming stack be fully immutable down to the database? - How do you detect anomalies in variable values (across text, numbers, and table modalities) cheaply across tens of thousands of samples? - How do you build a runtime that can reliably execute multi-hour processes with human-level judgment? If these questions excite you, we should talk. You will own and build core parts of the Poetic platform end-to-end and design powerful and elegant abstractions that scale. Requirements - Built multiple products 0 → 1 or 1 → n / staff+ engineer experience - Deep care for your craft - you can explain how your tools work under the hood and have opinions about them - The ability to run independently and build what you need on your own - Someone who can vouch that you're the best engineer they've worked with (or something you've built that speaks for itself) POETIC - We are in-person only in San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY - Series A at a $500mm valuation from Founders Fund, Kleiner Perkins, OpenAI, and other investors. - We’re a tight-knit team that works hard because we believe that the nature of how computers work for people will finally change - We have a very talent-dense team: engineers that have built multiple products 0 to 1 at prior fastest growing startups, Financial Services vertical lead at Palantir, Ramp Growth Lead, #1 enterprise AE from Retool, multiple past founders.
