ABOUT NOMOS Europe pays more than twice as much for electricity as the US or Asia. To reach competitive price levels, Europe has to lean on solar and deliver the flexibility that makes this feasible. Nomos is building a full-stack power company to unlock that flexibility by connecting millions of homes to Europe’s energy markets. At Nomos, we care about our craft and take full responsibility for what we build. We hire for spikes, not an absence of weaknesses, and look for exceptional ability backed by a record of achievement. This has brought together IMO and IOI medalists, former founders and Olympic athletes in a team whose individual strengths reinforce one another.   WHAT YOU’LL DO Incentives in the German power system have been misaligned for too long, and correcting that starts with how electricity gets bought and how assets get steered. You’ll turn uncertain data into decisions that move real money and physical assets. - Build forecasting models that predict consumption and generation across our portfolio. - Design and run our procurement strategy and manage the risk of rare electricity price spikes. - Optimise the steering of thousands of assets against prices, forecasts, and physical limits.   EXCITING CHALLENGES - Forecast a system that reacts to you. Customers steering a battery or heat pump have an information advantage. Your models need to account for their individual behaviour before they act - Price what almost never happens. A handful of hours can define much of the year’s downside, with little data to learn from. Our models need to be resilient to such shocks without overfitting on past events.   WHO YOU ARE - You can defend your modelling choices. You can explain the intuition behind your approach, why you chose it over alternatives, and which observations would invalidate the result. - You know when results are too good to be true. You look for data leakage, weak data hygiene, overtesting, and assumptions that would not have held in a live run. - You get your hands dirty. You can turn a valid idea into reliable systems, deal with messy data, and stay responsible for how your models perform in the real world. Please apply even if you’re unsure you meet these criteria. What matters most is curiosity and genuine excitement about the problems we’re working on.   REFERENCES Markus Walter https://www.linkedin.com/in/markuswt/   WHY JOIN US?
