Senior Software Engineer

This role is for candidates based in or open to relocating to San Francisco (Rincon Hill), in person 5 days a week. Full time. No remote opportunities are available. ABOUT HIKE MEDICAL Hike Medical is building the defining company in musculoskeletal care. We sit at the intersection of AI, robotics, and healthcare, across three product lines: a proprietary AI-vision platform that turns a 30 second web-based foot scan into custom 3D-printed orthotics; an AI agent platform that automates the entire DME workflow from pre-visit processing to claims and revenue cycle; and SoleForge, our vertically integrated 3D printing factory producing custom medical devices at a scale the industry has never seen. Our customers are both the largest employers on earth and the biggest companies in orthotics and prosthetics. On the clinical side, we are live across the industry's largest national providers. On the employer side, Fortune 50 companies trust us to protect their on-their-feet workforces. Custom insoles are just the wedge. Our long-term vision is bionics: AI-designed, robotically manufactured orthotic and prosthetic devices at scale, replacing a fragmented, manual industry that has not changed in decades. Insoles today, full DME tomorrow, bionics by 2040. Read the full vision at bionics2040.com http://bionics2040.com. We have raised $22M through Seed and Series A, backed by top-tier investors who invested early in companies like OpenAI, Anduril, and Mercury. We run a fast, results-first, high-ownership culture out of our SF Rincon Hill office. If you want to work on problems at the frontier of AI, manufacturing, and healthcare, this is the place. THE ROLE As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build and ship the core systems behind Hike's AI healthcare platform. You will design scalable services, put AI into production, and deliver experiences that improve patient outcomes. From day one you will have real autonomy and clear impact. We are deliberately open on the exact stack and on which area you join. We care more about how you think and what you ship than about any specific language, framework, or cloud. You will be placed on the team that best fits your strengths, on one of our three pods: - Hike Intelligence: AI agents that automate the back-office DME and revenue cycle workflow, from intake and eligibility to prior auth and billing. - Hike Clinical: the point-of-care and lab platform clinicians work in, from foot scan and evaluation to ordering custom devices. - Hike Lab and Marketplace: the manufacturing, automation, and commerce backbone behind SoleForge, plus the marketplace and admin tooling. WHY THIS IS CAREER-DEFINING - Your code will help people move without pain. - You will have full autonomy to build, ship, and see the results, moving from idea to production in hours or days. - You will join a high-performing team of top engineers and AI researchers, where every hire makes a massive impact. - You will work in a culture where bureaucracy is not tolerated, fluff is frowned upon, and trust is the driving force. WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON - Architect, build, and optimize scalable systems and services that power AI-driven healthcare workflows. - Take AI from prototype to reliable production. - Build the data pipelines, APIs, and integrations that connect our clinical, manufacturing, and back-office systems. - Ship user-facing experiences that move real metrics for patients and customers. WHAT WE LOOK FOR - A senior engineer with a track record of shipping production systems end to end. - Strong fundamentals across backend or full-stack, and comfort making architecture and infrastructure decisions. - Fluency with modern cloud and tooling. Experience putting AI into production is a plus, not a requirement. - Product-minded: you think about how your work affects real users. - A strong communicator who challenges assumptions and collaborates across engineering, AI, and product. - Driven to ship: you want control of your work from architecture to deployment, and you move fast. - Mission-focused: you are not here to optimize ad clicks, you want to build technology that changes lives. WHAT WE ASK - In person in our San Francisco Rincon Hill office, 5 days a week. - This is a hard job. Expect long hours and a high bar. In return the work is unusually rewarding, and you will see your impact quickly. - High ownership and low bureaucracy. Results come first. - We are a Series A company. You will help build the foundation, not maintain someone else's. HIRING MANAGER Nik Varshney http://linkedin.com/in/nvarsh, CTO.
