Solutions Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

AT OXA, WE'RE BUILDING THE FUTURE OF INDUSTRIAL MOBILE AUTONOMY (IMA) AND ARE IN THE MARKET FOR NEW TALENT. Oxa’s customers are the operators of some of the world's largest industrial facilities. Our technology transforms existing industrial vehicles into intelligent autonomous fleets, unlocking new levels of productivity, safety, and performance.   ‘The phone in your hand, the coffee on your desk, the shirt on your back - they all moved through a web of ports (air and sea), distribution yards and manufacturing hubs. This is the invisible circulatory system of global trade, and it relies entirely on a relentless, repetitive shuffle of goods. Towing. This towing task happens in complex, commerce-critical industrial environments. Here, having self driving technology “do the driving” delivers immediate, measurable impact. IMA will revolutionise the movement of goods across the world's ports, airports, and yards. You can be part of that as an Oxbot’ ‘Paul Newman - Founder and CEO’   Our Products: Our products are built on four core technology pillars which come together to build a complete system: Oxa Ware – Our modular autonomy hardware systems for consistent and repeatable integration of autonomy with existing vehicles. Oxa Driver – Our Physical AI, embodied in Oxa Ware, self-driving software that enables vehicles to perceive, reason, and drive autonomously in complex real-world environments. Oxa Foundry – Our development toolchain that leverages generative AI to continuously train and assure Oxa Driver, synthesising situations and sensor data. Oxa Hub – Our suite of cloud services for monitoring, managing and orchestrating fleets driven by Oxa Driver, including an API for integration with existing logistics systems.   Behind these technologies is our exceptional team, the Oxbots. We are home to some of the world's leading experts in autonomous systems, robotics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure, and distributed software engineering. Together, we're solving some of the hardest technical challenges in autonomy, turning the research and development we do into production and deploying it into environments. Making robots do useful work. Your Team: The Solutions Customer Delivery Team is a rapidly growing team at Oxa. It owns the technical delivery of the customer lifecycle, and is charged with leveraging Oxa's world class expertise to deliver real world, commercially viable autonomous solutions that provide genuine, demonstrable value to customers. As such, the team is a unique blend of technical and commercial problem solvers that have experience in deploying robotic systems in the field and solving problems with autonomy. Members of the team have the opportunity to try on many hats - both technically across the autonomy stack and spanning from running vehicles in the customer domain to whiteboarding with customers to find the best solution. Your Responsbilities: - Supporting autonomous vehicle project delivery: conducting field engineering on-the-ground activities for various customers in various domains including ports, airports and industrial yards. This includes workflow testing at our testing site at Culham Campus and requires domestic and international travel, including UAE. - Stakeholder management: internally and externally, ensuring a cohesive thread of engineering through each phase of the deliveries, including links with commercial and product teams. Externally communicating with customers to ensure projects are on-track and customer satisfaction is emphasised at each stage. - Working collaboratively: with multi-disciplinary teams, communicating technical requirements and working together to find solutions. - Identifying functionality & process gaps, contributing to the development of new features and improved processesThis is a hybrid role which will require both working hands-on with autonomous vehicles and remote development and support. Requirements: - Excellent problem solving skills with a data-driven approach to troubleshooting - Able to communicate technical issues successfully with various stakeholders of all levels - Able to understand the business impact of your systems and show good judgement when making technical trade-offs between your team’s short and long-term needs - Prioritise and manage workload and to be adaptable in the face of challenges and change. - Comfortable with shifting priorities - Able to be on-site in Oxford 2-3 days per week Extra kudos if you have: - A degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science or related subject. Particular interest for degrees/courses that combine software+hardware, like Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation, Motorsport - Proven experience of debugging complex systems - Experience in deployment of systems in the field - Experience in fields related to autonomous vehicles, like robotics or automotive - Exposure to customer facing environments - Flexibility to travel for business - Experience of using Linux/Unix - A Full UK Drivers Licence Your Interview Experience: Our interview process is designed to give you every chance to get the measure of us, and us of you. You will join three stages which will give you every opportunity to show your strengths and qualities, via scenario based questions and technical exercises.   What We Offer: - Competitive salary benchmarked against the market - Participation in a great company equity scheme - Enhanced pension contributions - Annual holiday allowance of 25 days per year - Overseas working policy for up to 8 weeks per year - Flexible, hybrid and remote working arrangements - Comprehensive Private Health cover with the option to add family members, - Enhanced health and wellbeing benefits including health cash plan, critical illness cover, life assurance and group income protection - Enhanced paid maternity and paternity policy   If you're excited by deep technical problems, real-world AI, and the opportunity to build technology that will reshape global industry, you'll find both the challenge and the impact you're looking for at Oxa.
