Product Manager

WHAT WE DO Adaptive is a vertical AI company of 50, building the agentic operating system for the $2 trillion U.S. construction industry. We work with over 1,000 customers, partner with over 50 accounting firms, and have raised $26m from Emergence, a16z, and other top funds. WHY JOIN US? Win a massive category that's up for grabs. Construction is among the least digitized industries left, and no AI king has been crowned. With our momentum, team, and backing, we are in position to be that company Build a moat that compounds. We orchestrate multi-stakeholder workflows across an industry that today runs on paper, email, and phone calls. Every process we manage generates data no one else has. That data makes each new use case easier to expand to, while building a compounding moat Work with the rare team that can pull this off. Winning here takes deep construction knowledge and deep AI fluency in the same room. That intersection is rare, and we have it with backgrounds across finance, technology, and construction Serve the people building the world around you. Your favorite local café. The new house on the corner. The massive new skyscraper at Central Park South. All built by our customers: skilled, creative people who have spent their lives bringing neighborhoods to life   About the role: Adaptive has spent four years building a robust, mission-critical platform now relied upon by over a thousand construction companies to run their project accounting and operations. On the strength of that foundation, we're moving upmarket: mid-market and enterprise construction companies are pulling hard for agentic AI capabilities, and we've been investing heavily to deliver them. We’re looking for a Product Manager with deep construction accounting expertise to help drive this next chapter of our growth, shipping reliable, enterprise-grade AI agents and expanding our platform to deliver industry-changing outcomes for the largest construction companies in the world. You’ll work directly with our Head of Product, partnering day-to-day with our design and engineering team of ~25 to ship products end-to-end. If you’ve been watching the rapid improvements in model capabilities and want to get direct experience building real agents that actually matter to real businesses, this role is for you. We’re building a suite of AI agents that automate the back-office work construction companies have been stuck doing manually for decades — things like compliance document tracking, subcontractor payment workflows, and field-to-office coordination. You’ll run discovery for new agents, define what “reliable enough to ship” means, and partner with engineering to build evaluation frameworks that let us measure and improve agent performance over time. You’ll also bring a strong point of view on what it takes to become the accounting platform of choice for mid-market and enterprise contractors, and help shape how these agents fit into our broader platform as we scale from 1,000 to 10,000 customers. Responsibilities: - Own product initiatives end-to-end, focusing on outcomes and real-world impact — not just outputs, timelines, or feature delivery - Define and shape product vision and strategy by distilling user needs, workflow complexity, and business priorities into a clear, scalable roadmap. - Bring an informed, opinionated POV on the core accounting capabilities mid-market and enterprise construction finance teams need, from job costing and WIP to multi-entity, revenue recognition, and audit-ready controls, and turn it into a clear build plan. - Be the voice of the customer. Run discovery calls, mine support tickets, and translate what you hear into clear problem statements — not feature requests. - Build, launch, and iterate on new capabilities from 0→1 and from 1→scale, ensuring fast learning cycles and high-quality execution. - Create clarity and alignment across design, engineering, and go-to-market teams - Set a high bar for execution, usability, and coherence across the platform. Qualifications: - Prior experience working in accounting at a construction company. You understand firsthand job costing, WIP schedules, retainage, AIA billing, committed costs, and how contractors close their books - Familiarity with the mid-market and enterprise construction ERP landscape (e.g., Viewpoint, CMiC, Sage Intacct, Acumatica) and a clear view of where those tools fall short. - Ideally, 3-5 years of experience as a product manager with a proven history of delivering complex technical products - Demonstrated experience building or launching AI-native or workflow automation products; comfortable reasoning about model behavior, edge cases, and tradeoffs - Strong technical acumen—you can go deep with engineers on tactical decisions and translate them into customer value - High ownership mindset — you treat the product like it’s yours, move fast when it matters, and don’t wait to be told what to do What we offer - Competitive salary plus meaningful equity - Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance - 401(k) match and flexible PTO policy - A seat at the table in a rapidly scaling vertical AI startup - Unlimited opportunities for professional growth and leadership In-office mandate This role requires you to work Monday - Thursday in our sunny Union Square office.
