Developer Relations Engineer (6 Month Contract)

ABOUT US Most AI is frozen in place - it doesn't adapt to the world. We think that's backwards. Our mandate is to build efficient intelligence that evolves in real-time. Our vision is AI systems that are flexible, personalized, and accessible to everyone. We believe efficiency is what makes this possible - it's how we expand access and ensure innovation benefits the many, not the few. We believe in talent density: bringing together the best and most driven individuals to push the boundaries of continual adaptation. We're looking for builders and creative thinkers ready to shape the next era of intelligence. THE ROLE Our vision is AI systems that are flexible, adaptable, and accessible to everyone. We believe efficiency is what makes this possible - it's how we expand access and ensure innovation benefits the many, not the few. Part of that commitment is to engage with a wider ecosystem of early adopters, researchers and developers, and make sure we engage deeply with our mission of building progress at the edge of what is possible. You authentically care about our mission of empowering builders globally to have more control over AI. Your core strength is bringing people together. You craft and organize experiences that allow users to connect with Adaption, our team, and with each other. RESPONSIBILITIES - Establish our overall strategy for supporting developers, researchers and enterprises who want to have more control over their AI. - Build and maintain Adaption's developer community spaces (Discord server, forums) from the ground up, answer questions, capture feedback, and turn it into actionable issues for the team - Develop, manage, and run Adaption's ambassador program, from recruiting and onboarding ambassadors to equipping them with the resources, recognition, and support to represent Adaption in their own communities. - Organize and lead meetups, hackathons, office hours, and live streams that introduce Adaption to new developer audiences - Collaborate with developer groups, universities, accelerators, and open-source communities to co-host and amplify high-quality events - Spotlight user projects and design partners (case studies, writeups, guest talks). - Build automations and systems that make community operations scale - when you do something twice, you figure out how to do it better the third time - Work closely with technical and marketing teams on cross-functional projects and feedback loops - Stay connected with community members over time, keeping a mental map of who's doing interesting work, who should meet who, and what people are building QUALIFICATIONS - 2–3 years in a DevRel role, with a track record of engaging technical users - Strong operations instincts - you've built scalable processes from scratch and driven cross-functional initiatives to completion - Strong written communication and experience engaging with communities over socials (Discord, X) - Proven experience organizing developer events end-to-end, from small meetups to large-scale hackathons - Genuine empathy for developers and curiosity about what they're building - you care about individuals, and about changing the status quo of who can shape AI. Energized by people - social situations charge you up, you're the first to say hello, and you follow up Above all, we're looking for great teammates who make work feel lighter and aren't afraid to go out on a limb with bold ideas. You don't need to be perfect, but you do need to be adaptable. We encourage you to apply, even if you don't check every box. BENEFITS - Flexible work: In-person collaboration in the Bay Area, a distributed global-first team, and team offsites. - Adaption Passport: Annual travel stipend to explore a country you've never visited. We're building intelligence that evolves alongside you, so we encourage you to keep expanding your horizons. - Lunch Stipend: Weekly meal allowance for take-out or grocery delivery. - Well-Being: Comprehensive medical benefits and generous paid time off.
