Senior Sales Engineer, Embedded & IoT

Hubble Network was founded with the intention of delivering on the promise of what Internet-of-Things (IoT) was supposed to be. We're building a global Bluetooth® network dedicated to machine-to-machine connectivity. We differentiate ourselves as the first modem-less and gateway-less, direct-to-satellite network from off-the-shelf Bluetooth® Low Energy chips. Hubble is ideal for applications in logistics, AgTech, and maritime where economies of scale for volume consumer and enterprise asset tracking is a priority. Our goal is to be the first billion-endpoint-connected network in the world. Hubble is an early-stage, venture-backed startup supported by some of the best investors in the world. In their previous lives, the founding team has been successful in raising $100s of millions in venture funding, developing the Amazon Sidewalk network, launching billions of dollars of space assets, and leading their teams to successful exits, both through acquisition and IPO. We are now looking to bring on talented team members who are the best at what they do to help us make Hubble a reality for the world. The role We're hiring a Senior Sales Engineer to be the technical anchor of our sales organization. You'll partner with Account Executives on our most strategic and technically complex accounts, turning ambitious ideas about satellite-powered connectivity into validated, deployable solutions — and you'll own the technical strategy behind our largest presales engagements, from first discovery call through proof-of-concept. The work spans embedded systems and cloud software, and you'll work closely with leaders across hardware, firmware, software, and customer success. You'll also be the main line between the field and product: carrying customer signal into the roadmap, and roadmap context back out to customers and the sales team. You'll report to the Chief Business Officer. You'll mentor less experienced sales engineers and help build the presales function's tools, process, and collateral as the team grows; formally, this is an individual contributor role. The role involves approximately 25% travel for customer meetings, industry events, and trade shows. How we work • A sense of urgency — you move work from concept to reality, quickly and effectively. • First-principles thinking — you understand the why behind the what, and can reason from fundamentals to complex system design. • System-level thinking — you're comfortable with requirements flow-down and can iterate quickly as requirements evolve. • High learning agility — you like learning, you're honest about what you don't know yet, and you close those gaps on your own initiative. • Clear communication — you convey technical ideas effectively to engineering, operations, and executive audiences alike. • Anticipation of needs — you spot problems early and produce reliable, cost-effective solutions that fit an early-stage company's constraints. What you'll do • Partner with Account Executives on our most strategic and technically complex accounts, acting as the senior technical voice for prospects, customers, and partners • Own technical discovery end to end, translating customer requirements across hardware, firmware, and connectivity architecture into a clear presales strategy • Design, scope, and lead proof-of-concept programs and product evaluations — including hands-on work with hardware and embedded firmware, and ownership of success criteria, timelines, and stakeholder alignment • Carry customer and partner feedback into the product roadmap, and bring product context back out to customers, Account Executives, and leadership • Deliver technical presentations to audiences ranging from firmware engineers to C-suite executives and boards • Support ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) and silicon OEM integration conversations, helping partners understand how Hubble's connectivity fits into their hardware and firmware stack • Build and maintain technical collateral: demo environments, integration guides, competitive positioning, and technical FAQs • Troubleshoot complex technical objections and de-risk deals by identifying integration or performance concerns early • Mentor less experienced sales engineers and help scale the presales function's tools and process • Represent Hubble at industry events and trade shows as a senior technical expert What we're looking for • 8+ years of experience in presales, sales engineering, or solutions engineering — ideally in IoT, connected hardware, semiconductors, or satellite and wireless communications. • Deep hands-on experience with hardware and firmware — comfortable in the weeds on embedded systems, not just discussing them at a high level • Working knowledge of Bluetooth Low Energy (required), and familiarity with wireless protocols more broadly • Demonstrated ownership of proof-of-concept programs in a presales context: scoping success criteria, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, and driving pilots to a technical win • A track record of technical evaluations and pilots that closed complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise deals • Proven ability to present to and influence both technical and executive or board-level audiences • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience This role includes hands-on work with physical hardware and lab equipment. We're glad to discuss reasonable accommodations for this or any other aspect of the role. Nice to have • Satellite, cellular, or LPWAN (low-power wide-area network) experience • Embedded C/C++, or scripting in Python or Bash for automation, testing, and demo environments • Familiarity with structured sales methodologies such as MEDDIC or MEDDPICC • Prior experience supporting ODM or silicon OEM integration and design-in processes • Background in GPS and positioning systems, or asset tracking COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 💰 Salary + commission (commensurate with experience 70/30) 🩺 Comprehensive Benefits – Health, Dental, Vision, & HSA options 🌍 Unlimited PTO 🚇 Commuter Benefits (if working from HQ) 🎓 Learning & Development Allowance 💪 Health & Wellness Stipend 🌎 Sabbatical Program – Recharge and explore new ideas 🛠 Cutting-Edge Space Tech – Work on state-of-the-art satellite system ITAR REQUIREMENTS Hubble is required by the U.S. Government to comply with various space technology export regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
