Special Projects Lead (Growth Ops)

THE WORLD’S LARGEST LAW FIRM WON’T BE A LAW FIRM. JOIN US IN BUILDING IT. August allows law firms to compound their expertise by building an autonomous organization of AI agents that run the firm's knowledge work. We partner closely with our firms and grow alongside them through sharing revenue on our agents and equity in the firms we transform. We believe that in five years, more than 95% of legal work will be concentrated among a select few elite law firms. The firms that get there will be the ones that rebuild how they deliver it. We're partnering with those firms and building the engine they run on to become the biggest legal service provider in the world. We invest in partnerships, not just licenses. We sell finished legal work alongside our firms and take a share of what it earns. This enables them to scale their services and lets us grow along with it. That means we’re chasing the legal services market ($1T), which dwarfs the global legal tech market ($40b). The problem is hard. An engine of agents sits underneath every matter we touch, connected to every step of a lawyer's workflow, in an industry where there is no margin for error. We’re challenged with building the perfectly accurate, infallibly secure, and yet all-powerful engine for legal work. We're already live with several excellent firms and the early results are better than we expected. Lean team, in person, New York, backed by leading investors, growing fast. Every role at August is a chance to remake an industry while the window is open. The Opportunity We are looking for someone who wants to work on a problem that matters. Not optimize a funnel. Not manage a pipeline. Work on a problem that actually matters — how AI gets adopted inside law firms and legal teams at scale, and what it takes to make that change stick. The Special Projects Lead sits at the intersection of growth, strategy, and deployment. You will own the entire motion from first conversation to live workflows — helping clients understand what is possible, designing how it gets implemented, and staying accountable to outcomes long after the deal is done. This is not a role for someone who wants to hand off and move on. You will work directly with the founders, operate across every function, and shape the playbook for how August goes to market. If you are energized by complexity, thrive in ambiguous environments, and want to see your work change how a profession operates, this role is for you. What You'll Do - Go onsite and meet with law firm partners and in-house legal teams to understand their most critical workflows and where they're losing time - Map client operations in depth to identify where AI can deliver the highest-leverage outcomes - Work with the product and engineering teams to shape how what you're seeing in the field gets built into August - Build customized workflows and use cases alongside clients as they expand to new practice groups or teams - Lead training sessions and check-ins to ensure the product is creating real impact on day-to-day legal operations - Present findings and proposals for expanded engagements to audiences ranging from associates to firm leadership - Scope out new client opportunities across practice areas, firm sizes, and geographies What You'll Bring - 3–6 years of experience in a client-facing role in SaaS, legal tech, consulting, or professional services. - A track record of navigating complex, multi-stakeholder relationships and driving decisions through to outcomes. - Strong strategic instincts — you can quickly understand a client's business, identify the highest-leverage opportunities, and build a clear path forward. - Comfort working without a defined playbook and the judgment to build one from scratch. - The ability to communicate clearly across audiences — from in-house counsel to managing partners to operations leads. Nice to Have Prior exposure to legal operations, legal tech, or professional services. JD or legal industry background a plus. BENEFITS - Medical insurance coverage - Flexible PTO - Parental Leave - Centralized office equipment ordering for all employees - Equinox or Chelsea Piers gym membership - In-office perks: lunch, dinner, snacks, drinks, and more - Budget for intra-office travel - Team-building events - Relocation support to NYC (as needed) WHY JOIN AUGUST - Founding Impact: Shape not just your role but the company. - Uncapped Upside: Competitive base + commission, early equity ownership. - Top-tier Team: Work alongside people who move fast, think clearly, and care deeply. - Category-Defining Work: Help build the first true AI agents for the legal profession. - Fast Growth: Scale your career as we scale the company. - In-person in NYC: Collaborative, talent dense and high energy environment - Global Reach: Our clients span 4 continents and use August in multiple languages and jurisdictions - Frontier of Applied AI: August has access to proprietary data inaccessible to foundation model providers.
