Product Manager

ABOUT RUNDOO ℹ️ Our mission is to empower independent supply stores with best-in-class technology. Think of your local hardware store or mom-and-pop nursery—these are our clients. From paint to lumber to flooring, over 200,000 such stores across the country sell over $1T of building materials annually using outdated, on-premises systems. We’re aiming to help them modernize so that they can continue to thrive. Backed by leading investors including Battery, Bessemer and CRV, we've raised $48M across four rounds and are growing quickly: We're live in over 500 stores across the USA, Canada, and the Caribbean, and integrated with over 20 industry partners. Our team is made up of builders, sellers, and industry veterans with a shared goal: to bring modern technology to an overlooked industry. ABOUT THE ROLE 💼 You'll be based out of the San Francisco Bay Area and own product research on new industries for Rundoo. Today, we serve paint, hardware, and farm & feed stores; we have a dozen more verticals on our radar (lumber, flooring, plumbing, auto, and more) and your role is to figure out which to enter and how. That means defining the ICP for a new industry, quantifying it, talking to owners in their stores, mapping the GTM, sketching the roadmap of features Rundoo would need to build to win them, and getting the first few pilot clients live. You'll report directly to our CEO, Nick https://www.linkedin.com/in/hershey-nick/, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with the engineering team led by Andrew https://www.linkedin.com/in/beckman-andrew/. You'll spend ample time with customers in their stores. There is simply no replacement for in-person time spent with the customers. WHAT YOU'LL DO AS A PRODUCT MANAGER AT RUNDOO 🗒️ - Own a new vertical end-to-end: define and size the market, drive the features to completion, and launch the GTM motion to tackle it. - Talk to operators in person: spend time in stores to understand what matters to them. - Build the roadmap: translate field research into a concrete, sequenced feature plan with engineering. - Land the first pilots: find and close pilot clients in your industry to prove the market. - Define the GTM strategy: identify the channels, partners, and events that matter. REQUIREMENTS ☑️ - 2+ years in consulting, banking, or an equivalent field that has helped you develop strong communication and prioritization skills. - Based in the SF Bay Area and comfortable working from our office 4 days per week. - Excited to get out there because all the good learning happens from being with the customer. - Excellent communication able to synthesize messy field research into clear, defensible roadmaps. - Working through rejection because many prospects will say no :) - Curiosity about overlooked, traditional industries. BONUS POINTS 🌟 - Familiarity with building materials, construction supply, or other hardline industries - Experience with vertical SaaS - A track record of cold outreach producing real outcomes (interviews, deals, partnerships) INTERVIEW PROCESS 🎤 - Intro Call (20 min) - Remote: - A chat with with Amanda for us to understand what you’re looking for. For you to know what Rundoo and this role are about. Hopefully we both find it to be a good fit. - Take-home Overview & Chat (30 min) - Remote: - With our CEO, Nick. - Take-home: industry deep-dive (~1 week, paid): - We design our take home to feel as much like the job as possible. - We’ll have you talk to store owners via cold outreach, size the market, propose the roadmap Rundoo needs to win, and sketch GTM messaging. - Onsite (full day) - In Person: - Pressure test the roadmap from your take-home with design, engineering, and GTM. Also, eat lunch. - Reference Check - Offer ABOUT THE TEAM 👥 This is a brand-new role at Rundoo, so you'll be one of our first product hires. Your closest collaborators: 1.
