Director of Facilities Engineering - APAC We are looking for a Regional Data Centre Facilities Operations Lead to own the operational performance, reliability, and compliance of our data centre facilities in APAC and the surrounding operational footprint. This role is responsible for the day-to-day performance of mission-critical facilities infrastructure, including power, cooling, mechanical and electrical systems, environmental controls, life safety systems, and third-party facility partners. You will help ensure our sites operate at peak performance, meet uptime expectations, and scale to support high-density AI workloads. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role for someone who combines deep technical expertise with strong operational discipline, sound judgement under pressure, and effective cross-functional collaboration. What You’ll be Doing • Oversee day-to-day facilities operations across regional data centre sites • Ensure continuous availability of critical infrastructure including UPS, generators, switchgear, chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, and liquid cooling systems • Maintain uptime in line with business requirements and service expectations • Act as the regional escalation point for facility-related incidents and operational issues • Drive improvements in uptime, resiliency, and energy efficiency • Monitor key facility metrics including PUE, cooling efficiency, power utilization, and capacity headroom • Lead root cause analysis for facility incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented • Ensure preventive maintenance programmes are executed to a high standard • Partner with infrastructure and engineering teams to prepare facilities for high-density GPU deployments • Validate power and cooling capacity for expansions, retrofits, and operational changes • Support rack density optimization and liquid cooling strategies where required • Oversee commissioning activities for new infrastructure and retrofit works • Manage third-party facility vendors and maintenance contractors to ensure strong service delivery and SLA adherence • Optimize facilities operating costs without compromising reliability, safety, or performance • Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements, safety standards, and audit expectations • Lead health, safety, and environmental adherence across sites • Maintain business continuity and disaster recovery readiness for critical facilities operations About You • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent • At least 10+ years of Facilities management experience consisting of at least 5 years+ in Data Centre facilities operations or critical infrastructure management across APAC regions • Strong knowledge of critical electrical and mechanical systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, cooling plants, CRAC/CRAH, and liquid cooling • Experience supporting high-density AI or HPC environments will be a plus • Experience managing multi-site or regional operations in high-availability environments • Proven ability to lead through incidents, operational reviews, and cross-functional coordination • Strong vendor management and contractor oversight experience • A practical, accountable, and collaborative working style Nice to Have • Experience supporting commissioning, retrofits, or expansion projects in live data centre environments • Experience with liquid cooling deployment strategies for high-density compute environments • Familiarity with regulatory, audit, and HSE requirements across multiple sites • Experience driving energy efficiency or sustainability improvements in mission-critical facilities • Exposure to business continuity planning and disaster recovery readiness for facility operations Why this role matters This role is central to Nscale’s ability to scale AI infrastructure reliably in the US.
