Senior Platform Engineer

ABOUT BESTOW Life insurance is one of the world's most important products. It's also one of the hardest to build, distribute, and modernize. Bestow exists to change that. Bestow is a leading vertical technology platform serving some of the largest and most innovative life insurers. Our platform unifies the fragmented, legacy value chain, enabling carriers to launch products in weeks instead of years. Carriers choose us to scale and operate at unprecedented speed, powered by AI and automation. Bestow isn't selling policies. We're building the infrastructure that helps an entire industry move faster, reach more people, and deliver on its promise. Backed by leading investors (Goldman Sachs, Hedosophia, NEA, Valar, 8VC) and trusted by major carriers, Bestow is powered by a team that moves with precision, purpose, and heart. If you want to help reimagine a centuries-old industry with lasting impact, join us. Bestow offers flexible remote/hybrid work, meaningful benefits, equity, and substantial growth opportunities. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior Platform Engineer, you’ll own the implementation of technical projects that improve our platform’s scalability, reliability, and developer experience. You’ll independently execute scoped initiatives, automate infrastructure, and build internal tools that help product teams move faster and safer. You’ll collaborate closely with other platform engineers and cross-functional stakeholders, applying your engineering judgment to deliver clean, maintainable solutions. As you grow into the role, you’ll take on ownership of more complex systems and begin influencing architectural choices and team processes. Contribute to Platform Resilience - Implement dashboards, alerts, and runbooks for services owned by platform engineering. - Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and follow-up improvements. - Participate in a primary on-call weekly rotation to maintain system reliability, respond to platform incidents, and perform blameless root-cause analysis. - Propose and prototype changes to improve availability, scalability, and cost efficiency. WHO YOU ARE - 5+ years of professional experience working with cloud infrastructure (e.g., GCP, AWS, or Azure). - You’re familiar with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Pulumi and understand CI/CD workflows. - You write clean, maintainable code and have experience in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Go, Python, Bash, TypeScript). - You have hands-on experience utilizing AI agents (e.g., Claude Code) for engineering tasks, demonstrating an ability to effectively direct agents through clear context, explicit constraints, and deliberate planning. - You’ve worked with containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration tools like Kubernetes. - You understand version control workflows and regularly participate in code reviews. - You’re a strong communicator, take ownership of your work, and collaborate well with others. - You’re eager to grow and take on more architectural and operational responsibilities.
