Cloud Operations Analyst

Are you ready to shape the future of data? Matillion is the company behind Maia, the AI Data Automation platform.  In the AI economy, demand for data is exploding. Manual data engineering can’t keep up. Maia fixes that by combining 15 years of data expertise with agentic AI to eliminate the manual work that slows data teams down. Organisations like Cisco, DocuSign, and Slack are already using it to deliver real business impact, faster. We started in Manchester and now we’re global - with teams across the UK, US and India. We are driven, curious, energetic people who move fast, think big and hold ourselves to a high standard. We’re here to make a dent in the universe bigger than ourselves. And we’re looking for people who want to be part of it. About the role We're Matillion - and we're building the first AI Data Automation platform. Our cloud infrastructure isn't a back-office function; it's the engine that powers everything our customers rely on. As a Cloud Operations Analyst, you'll be a key architect of that engine, owning the reliability, scalability and security of our cloud-native platforms across AWS, GCP and Azure. This is a high-impact individual contributor role that sits at the intersection of Cloud Infrastructure, FinOps and SRE, and you'll be working in a small, focused engineering team where your decisions have real, visible consequence. This isn't a reactive ops role. You'll be proactively identifying bottlenecks, driving automated remediation, applying AI tooling to accelerate workflows and partnering with Finance to make sure we scale efficiently. If you thrive with autonomy, think in systems and believe cloud infrastructure should be engineered with clinical precision, this is for you. What you will be doing • Designing, implementing and continuously improving Matillion's cloud infrastructure estate and Infrastructure as Code across AWS (primary), GCP and Azure, and conducting deep-dive performance analysis and driving automated remediation of bottlenecks • Leading FinOps initiatives; analysing cloud spend, managing Reserved Instances and Savings Plans, and partnering with Finance to ensure we scale efficiently and responsibly • Applying AI-powered developer tools (including Claude Code) to research, automate and accelerate operational workloads without compromising on safety or quality • Managing Kubernetes (EKS) and Docker deployments at scale, scripting automation in Python, Go or Bash, and owning the consistency and reliability of our cloud-native platforms • Mentoring junior analysts, leading technical knowledge shares, and driving continuous improvement in the team's ways of working by building a culture of documentation and operational excellence What we are looking for • Demonstrable experience in a Cloud Operations, DevOps or SRE role supporting high-availability SaaS environments with advanced, hands-on AWS expertise (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS) and proven Terraform mastery including complex state files and code modularisation • A sharp eye for cost optimisation; you can analyse cloud usage data, identify inefficiencies and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations that guide real infrastructure decisions and keep spend aligned to growth • Strong Kubernetes (EKS) and containerisation experience at scale, paired with solid scripting ability in Python, Go or Bash for automating operational tasks • A genuine willingness to master AI-powered developer tooling; you see AI as a force multiplier for productivity, not a threat to quality • Autonomy and a bias for action; you dig into problems independently, think in systems, supervise AI outputs with rigour, and don't wait to be told what needs fixing More about Matillion   We operate a flexible working culture that promotes work-life balance, with benefits including: Company Equity 27 days paid time off 12 days of Company Holiday 5 days paid volunteering leave Group Mediclaim (GMC) Enhanced Parental leave policies MacBook Pro   Your Safety   Matillion recruiters will only contact you from @matillion.com email addresses.
