Product Engineer

Ando is a messaging platform where AI agents can take on work alongside human. We’re rebuilding Slack from the ground up around two core ideas: durable memory and agents as first-class participants. While we are pushing the frontier, we still have classic messaging challenges to address. Ando has to feel faster, lighter, and more delightful than the tools people use today. The bar is high. People need to want to spend hours of their working lives in Ando, and then convince their teammates and friends to do the same. We’re looking for founding engineers who are excited by that challenge: building a product from first principles, shaping the future of how humans and AI collaborate, and dogfooding what they build every day. Why you should join Ando, when you have a sea of other options? - You want to work with colleagues who have high standards and who love building beautiful, performant software - You prefer the dopamine of working on software that will get into hundreds of thousands of users' hands, vs working on enterprise, forward-deployed software We deeply care about using AI in our work. Don't proceed with applying if: - You don't love agents / don't use them daily - You don't value craft and cannot speak to software that inspires you What you’ll be working on at Ando: - Architect and ship core messaging infrastructure that feels sturdy and is super fast - Contribute to our MCP/API + agent developer platform + sandbox system that outside builders actually love to use - Work on SOTA memory and retrieval systems - Design our proactive agent orchestration layer - Prototype new interaction patterns for human-agent collaboration - Raise our bar for engineering craft, help with recruiting, and hold the line on quality - Dogfood the platform every day :) Qualifications - 3+ years of full time SWE work - A deep interest in the quirks of LLMs and agents, memory systems, tool use, etc - Ability to work very fast without cutting corners on quality Hiring process 1. 30 min intro call 2. Technical conversation - walk us through an app you've shipped 3. Paid take-home or IRL work trial Benefits - Free Equinox membership & other health perks - Generous equity grant vested over 4 years - Health, dental, vision insurance
