Senior Backend Engineer, Integrations

We’re Altura, an ambitious SaaS startup! At Altura, we’re on a mission to revolutionise how organisations win complex deals. Our AI-powered platform redefines bid management, transforming a fragmented process into a seamless strategic advantage. By connecting workflows, automating tasks, and scaling knowledge, we empower teams to work smarter, not harder. We're a company with big ambitions and an even bigger opportunity ahead. If you’re excited by innovation, thrive in a collaborative environment, and want to work in an environment with high technical standards, then Altura is the place for you. Join us in transforming the way organizations win—and let’s build the future together. TL;DR - Your Role as Senior Backend Engineer In this role, you’ll own the architecture and scalability of Altura’s tender spotting platform and data ingestion that powers it, as well as the technical design of our entire integrations strategy. It’s more than just coding, it’s about end-to-end ownership. You’ll lead the initiative and use agentic software-development practices, such as spec-driven development. If you’re motivated by autonomy and thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments, this is the opportunity for you. About the Team: We're a high-performing, innovative Engineering team. Our goal is to build a world class culture and are well under way. We apply the latest AI technologies and tools for software development, like spec-driven development (using Speckit), but avoid falling into the trap of vibe coding. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of software engineering and everyone is expected to understand the code written by the AI tools we drive. We foster a culture of experimentation, and open communication. What sets us apart: engineers own their projects end-to-end: frontend, backend, infrastructure and monitoring. You make the architectural decisions, write the specs, ship the work and monitor performance and usage. When you need help, you rely on your peers for collaboration, solution brainstorming, and expertise whenever you need it. If you love building software in the agentic way, working on high-performing teams, and having a significant impact on the business, you'll feel right at home at Altura. You will: - Design, build, and maintain integrations with third-party platforms and external data sources, including web scrapers and data ingestion pipelines that underpin everything else in the product. - Drive collaborative architectural and system level design decisions. - Design and develop backend services and APIs to support scalable, reliable systems. - Optimize application performance and ensure system reliability as we scale. - Rely on and evolve our best practices for CI/CD, observability, security, etc. - Evaluate new technologies to keep our stack on the cutting-edge of innovation. What You Bring to the Table: We’re looking for someone who is not just technically excellent but also thrives in collaborative dynamic, fast-paced environments. You’ll need: - Demonstrable and extensive experience in backend development with expertise in .NET and C#. - Hands-on experience building and maintaining web scrapers and third-party integrations. - You know how to work with external APIs, handle flaky data sources gracefully, and build ingestion pipelines that are resilient by design. - A strong experience in cloud native applications (Azure preferred), containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines. - Agentic software development (e.g. Spec Driven Development) is your default way of developing software. That means you barely write code yourself, but you reject vibe-coding with every fiber of your soul. - A solid background in database technologies (SQL is a must, NoSQL is a nice to have). - Strong commitment to quality, scalability and security. - Experience with Domain Driven Design and Clean Architecture. - Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex technical challenges. - Strong communication and collaboration skills to thrive in a team-focused environment. Why You Should Apply: - High Impact: Your work will directly shape our product and success, allowing you to see tangible results. - Ownership: Take charge of projects, make critical decisions, and experiment with new ideas. - Innovation: Work on cutting-edge AI solutions and solve uncharted problems every day. - Flexibility: We trust our team to deliver results, but support hybrid working with some remote work options when you want to travel abroad. - Growth Opportunities: Collaborate with a high-performing team, mentor others, and expand your own skillset as we scale. Why You Might Not Apply: At Altura, roles can be fluid, and success requires adaptability. If you thrive on well-defined responsibilities, extensive supervision, or clearly delineated career paths, this might not be the right fit. We value initiative and learning from mistakes. Our ideal candidate embraces these challenges with curiosity and resilience. Interview Process: 1. People & Talent Lead Interview 2. Team Interview + System Design 3.
